We are pleased to announce that Carina Gardner has joined our design team. We have long admired her work and feel she brings a new and exciting look to Riley Blake Designs.
Carina has a wealth a talent, She has a MA and Ph.D. in Design from the University of Minnesota. She has taught Graphic Design Foundations, Typography, Design Theory, and Packaging Design for five years at the University of Minnesota. She left academics in 2008 to design full time and stay at home with her children.
Creativity is an integral part of Carina’s life! She has always loved working with her hands—creating beautiful things out of fabric and paper. As a child she would break the needle on her mom’s sewing machine making Barbie dresses, hide in the closet writing plays, and doodle to her heart’s content. As an adult, she tries very hard to include beauty in her life whether with her two daughters, in her designs, or in her home.
Carina currently designs fabric, children’s sewing patterns, scrapbooking paper, and digital scrapbooking products.
She also teaches online Illustrator classes. Carina’s inspiration is drawn primarily from her two daughters, which she designs all of her sewing patterns for.
Dainty Blossoms is Carina’s first line with Riley Blake and it is sure to be a favorite.
With a retro feel and modern, fresh colors, Dainty Blossoms comes in three colorways: pink, blue and green. The fabric below is reminiscent of vintage sheets.
We can only imagine the patterns Carina will come up with using this bright and cheery fabric. Dainty Blossomsâ„¢is scheduled for delivery early January 2012.
