Project Design Team Wednesday: Clothes Peg Bag

Posted by Cindy on Wednesday, May 30th, 2012

For years we lived in a Metropolitan city whereby clothes lines of any kind
were strictly forbidden.
When we moved to wine country, one of the first things I asked...
"can we have a clothes line?"  It would have been a deal breaker
if the answer had been NO.

I have a clothes line lol.

SEW, I love clothes PEG bags, I have never found one I liked,
all of them just a bit dowdy for me... I have made many of these in a slew
of diff't colours, each year, I have a FAV.
THIS YEAR--- IT WILL BE THIS ONE...

 Sew I was pretty excited
to see this collection of Apple of my Eye in laminates....
It is just perfect for me...
And if you like it too, well here is the pattern.

I don't usually use any pattern at all when I am designing
as I usually just cut material, and sew....

But here is what I used if you can just trace it
by all means, give it a try.

Materials needed

1/2 yard of laminate print ( I chose Apple of my eye) Quilted Fish
1/4 yd of laminate contrast ( same)
size 12 needle
polyester thread
painters tape for under needle foot
1 old fashioned wooden hanger...

Outline all pieces and cut.

this is the back....and here are the front pieces

You can machine ruffle or hand sew...i prefer hand sewing
them, as I can make them more ruffled...
Your choice.....

sew in your contrast piece...I chose the yellow polka dots..

border piece next....

and then it is time to press seams..
I know you can do it with a hot iron...but I prefer
this way using this unconventional tool..

What is sew wonderful about laminates- there is no need
to worry about seams or raw edges.......
sew now it is time to add the ruffle,
I like to pin it first, tends to slip a bit...
pin ruffle to wrong side of fabric...

Next, right sides together, sew from ruffle all away
around to the other side of ruffle...PINK under arms,
so it will be easier to turn and you will avoid puckers...

Turn inside out, fill with pegs, add a couple of bows...
and hand on your clothes line...

Thanks to Riley Blake for including me on their design team...

I am certainly being challenged to go out on a line...

Just loving this peg bag..yes I am .....

My best
