Project Design Team Wednesday~Reusable Christmas Bags
Posted by administrator on Tuesday, November 13th, 2012
At Christmas each year we have a tradition that our kids can open one present on Christmas Eve, which is always a new, sparkling set of pajamas for Christmas morning pictures. It's a fun tradition and the kids love it....but it has always been a hassle finding those presents under the tree.
So, I had an idea to make reusable Christmas bags that we can use year after year for that traditional Christmas Eve gift. One, so we can easily find the gifts and secondly, to save a bit of paper and add some cuteness and fabric-love under the tree as well.
The bags themselves are a simple drawstring bag with a gusseted-bottom to hold lots of goodies in them. Little time and effort, but a cute addition to the Christmas tree for years to come. (I am imagining a Christmas with all reusable bags one year---but my kids would have to be wayyy older as to not peek in ;)
The gift tags are also made with fabric, some batting and are reusable too so they will last holiday after holiday.
Here's what you will need if you want to make some Christmas bags for your gifts this year:
1/2 yard fabric (per bag) I used Alpine Wonderland fabrics for all the bags and the tags.
2 yards of white cording (I found mine at Hobby Lobby on a roll)
Matching thread
Scissors
Sewing Machine
And here's what you do:
And you are done. The reusable gift tags stay on the drawstring bags with some coordinating vintage buttons that I found in my stash.
