Hello Riley Blake Friends!  I am  Melissa Corry from Happy Quilting and I am so excited to be here with my first Project Design Team appearance ;)    When I first saw British Invasion by RBD Designers I had to use it.   My Mother was born in England and recently returned for the first time for a "holiday".  So I decided to make a little quilt for her to remember that trip by.  And I am so excited to share it with all of you.  So, let's show you how to do it :)

More fun from Cologne

28 Mar 2014

Who doesn't want a car covered in a yarn wrap. I wanted to show a few more photos from the h + h show in Cologne, because there was so much eye candy.    Check out the yarn fashions made for the runway.  As I mentioned last year, wool and yarn are a big part of the crafting  industry in Europe.    This women is felting wool to create a little Nemo fish. Also, check out her handmade wool collar. We met so many nice people that love to sew and craft.          One of those people we actually were able to meet ... ...read more

Project Design Team Wednesday ~ Ironing Board with Storage Pocket

26 Mar 2014

Ironing Board Cover and storage pocket - http://mellysews.com

Hey y'all - I'm Melissa, from Melly Sews, and I am THRILLED to be part of the Riley Blake Project Design team! So, for those of you who don't know me, I'm pretty picky about details. And I'm going to share a scary photo now - consider yourself warned about the original state of my ironing board. I'm kind of embarrassed by how bad that looks. Therefore when I started thinking about my first project, this one was an obvious eyesore in my pretty new studio. In addition to the ugly discoloration on my original cover ... ...read more

Germany and the h+h show

24 Mar 2014

There are a few places on earth I would consider absolutely magical and Rothenburg ob der tauber, Germany is one of those places. It is a quaint village, located on the romantic road of Germany,  that narrowly escaped being destroyed in WW2.      Some of the homes are almost 1000 years old, which for me is almost unbelievable when most of our historical buildings reach a mere 200 years old.    There was no shortage of charm anywhere in the town and I was mesmerized by the place. And for all those Chitty Chitty Bang Bang fans, this is where many of ... ...read more

Project Design Team Wednesday ~ I'm Running Away Knapsack

I'm-Running-Away-Knapsack1

Hi there!  I am super excited to share my first project as part of the Riley Blake Design Team.  My name is Stef and I share all my sewing, crafts, and food projects over at Girl. Inspired.    While I was browsing fabric collections for this project, I landed on the Country Girls line by Tasha Noel.  Oh my word, I was in. love.  The prints and colors are reminiscent of sweet, carefree childhood adventures and I immediately wanted to create something  for my daughters' outdoor adventures as we head into the warmer months.  I made these "I'm Running Away ... ...read more

Project Design Team Wednesday ~ Faux Button Down Tunic

12 Mar 2014

Hello everyone, this is my first time here as a member of the design Team and I am very excited! I am Sachiko from Tea Rose home, where I share my sewing/craft tutorials and ideas.

I had so much fun working with the fabrics by Mod Studio designed by Holli Zollinger. I went back and forth on what to make... then I finally decided to create a tunic for myself. This is a very simple-to-make tunic and no major pattern is required. Are you ready?     This particular tunic I made is for size XS and S, but if you ... ...read more

Book-to-Bag Repurpose

05 Mar 2014

We LOVE books at our house. I know we can read books on our phones & other forms of technology, but I am still partial to a real book with real pages in it. Here is a fun idea for re-purposing those books that have pages coming away from the spines, or are only interesting because of their cool vintage cover. You Will Need: an old book black pen box cutter several pieces of fabric (I used pieces from Riley Blake's new Pepe in Paris Collection for the first bag, and pieces from the new British Invasion Collection for the ... ...read more
