Un Tabouret

18 Jun 2014

Stop the TRAIN... ( it has been very wet here)      I KNOW.... it is not  RBD GINGHAM,  but it is does have DOTS and some CHEVRON ...both RBD classics...   I completely ran out of yellow GINGHAM, I know, I know... but there is some coming any day now and as soon as it arrives I will add a gingham ruffle all around my Tabouret..translated to a low footstool.   Being so little, I hate my feet dangling from my chairs... so I always have a TABOURET in almost every room of our home... This one will go in my sewing studio ... ...read more

Project Design Team Wednesday ~ Easy Grilling Apron

04 Jun 2014

Summer is here and just thought of turning on the oven in the summer makes me hot. So most of our cooking is done on the grill. We're big fans of grilled pizza at our house! Anyone else anti cooking during the summer? I have ruffley aprons, but they look a little out of place with the grill. Riley Blake's cotton duck home decor fabric is a little heavier and tougher so I knew it would work great for a grilling apron. I chose Aqua Found Label and Gray Found Damask from the Lost and Found line by ... ...read more

Project Design Team Wednesday ~ Lula Magnolia Panel Quilt Tutorial

28 May 2014

My name is Amy Smart and I blog about my quilting addictions at Diary of a Quilter. Today I'm sharing a quilt using Amanda Herring's newest collection Lula Magnolia. I am in love with vibrant colors in this collection coming to stores in June. This collection of fabrics includes a gorgeous panel with four big graphic prints. Printed panels are such a great tool for making a dramatic statement in quilts without having to do a lot of intricate piece-work.    The Lula Magnolia panels come in 3 different colorways, but all coordinate with each other. I used three ... ...read more

Quilt Market in Pittsburgh part 3

This should be the last of our pictures of Quilt Market. Geekly Chic and Surprise were on display together. Super iconic prints from Geekly Chic, plus some that are a little nostalgic. Surprise by BoBunny is all about birthdays. Birthday fabric is hard to find, so we decided to make our own collection of fabrics that celebrates this special day.   Trail Mix by BoBunny and Butterfly Dance by Cinderberry stitches were on display together, both set to arrive in July. Gorgeous corals, lime greens and aquas, these outdoor fairies from Butterfly Dance are so enchanting. For you outdoor enthusiasts...Trail ... ...read more

Project Design Team Wednesday ~ Art Smock Tutorial

21 May 2014

Hi, sewing friends!  It's Becky from U Create again! I love contributing to the Riley Blake Blog!  I hope you will love this little project as much as my baby girl loves the end result.

My preschoolers LOVES to paint!  I am not talking about the dollar store water colors either.  She likes the acrylic paint "that mommy uses." So I usually put an old shirt of mine over her clothes and let her paint shoe boxes and butcher paper.  That is until I was introduced to Riley Blakes Laminate Fabrics.  I knew EXACTLY what to make with it ... ...read more

Quilt Market in Pittsburgh, Part 2

19 May 2014

We had so many new collections to show at Quilt Market.  Set to arrive next month, A Beautiful Thing and Fly Aweigh were showcased together. A Beautiful Thing by Zoe Pearn has soft pinks, oranges and navy colors and we had to add fabric butterflies to the display....it was a "beautiful thing" :)  Fly Aweigh is a great boys collection.    You would probably not think to include nautical and airplanes in the same fabric line...but it just works in Fly Aweigh.  Designed by Samantha Walker, the mini lobster prints have been one of the most popular designs. Floriography and ... ...read more

17 May 2014

Hello everyone...we are having so much fun at Quilt Market!  More photos to come, but for now I wanted to share a few photos of the booth. We went with a beachy theme for the front of the booth. I love this whale made out of our basics (made by Julia). So many people want the pattern for the fishes featured below, so... Julia will be creating a free tutorial on Cutting Corners this summer. Our new basic Quatrefoil looks perfect as fish scales. Some of the hottest color combinations this year are orange and navy.
