We hope everyone had a great weekend and Mothers Day. We enjoyed visiting HMQS this past week and seeing all the truly amazing quilts.  It is the second year in a row that we sponsored the quilt challenge and here is a few pictures of the quilts ready for auction.  Lila Tueller's Isabella fabric line was used in the challenge and it is always interesting to see what each quilter does with the same fabric. I love an auction, especially when it is for a good cause. This is the third place quilt that I won the bid on ... more

"Dont look now" special event

29 Apr 2011

Kellie Wulfsohn of "Don't Look Now" is an incredible pattern designer from Australia.   If you have gone to quilt market, I am sure you have noticed her quilts. Her booth is hard to miss because her quilts have a certain amount of "Wow" factor. Her applique designs instantly catch your eye, but Kellie's added quilting makes you stop and stare. She does all of her own quilting on her sewing machine as well as her raw edge applique.  We, like many of you, have wondered how she does it. Now is your chance. We asked Kellie to spend ... more

Here is Lori in her own words: I grew up in a small town on a small farm in a quilting and sewing family. I loved to spend most of my time climbing trees and riding on ... more

Thanks for Sharing

18 Apr 2011

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for sharing your beautiful stories. I tried to read the comments aloud to my family and I really could not finish them without tearing up and ended up having to read the comments to myself.

Some of you mentioned acts of kindness that were so small, but meant so much. Life is short, but those acts of kindness, big or small, matter.

My random winner (# drawn out of a hat) is:

My middle son is disabled and needed a complicated surgery a few years ago. We were short a few thousand dollars and ... more

Kindness of Strangers

10 Apr 2011

A short time a go I happen to be in the grocery store with 2 of my kids, grabbing something for them to take to school (just before school.)  Of course I was in a hurry and we were running late and wouldn't you know that when I got up to the check stand and opened by purse, I discovered that my wallet was not there.  How embarrassing!  I quickly got on the phone to my husband and confirmed that yes I had left my wallet at the office, seconds later while I was still on the phone...a ... more
