Shari Butler has been with Riley Blake Designs almost from the beginning. I made Shari have a sit down chat with me so you could have a chance to get to know her.
Shari’s inspiration for Hooty Hoot Kangaroo is her nephews, but she also hopes to have a boy of her own someday. Hooty Hoot Kangaroo fabric line says a big hello to our friends down-under in Australia (notice the kookaburra and gum tree) Her color palate is all boy, with classic browns and blues and greens.
Since childhood Shari has always been involved with the arts and crafts following in the footsteps of her mother. Whether it’s from “tickling the ivory keyboard, singing a song, or doodling on a piece of paper”, she always has something brewing in her creative mind and spirit.
Being the youngest of four, she followed after her brother and went to Utah State University where she found her love in Graphic Arts and Illustrations. While working in the corporate world, she has had many opportunities. She began freelancing with some national companies that inspired her to follow her own dream and to search for her own creative niche.
Shari fell in love with quilting, sewing, and the idea of her designs on fabric. She loves the idea that when someone makes a quilt with her designs that it will be passed down from generation to generation. When she found Riley Blake Designs and they took a chance on her, she found her passion and dream job in designing fabric. She has some more surprises up her sleeve. She is currently developing patterns for quilts and projects for this current line and lines to come.
Shari loves to spend time with her adorable husband, Dan and her two puppies, Reeses and Benji. They currently reside in Utah, nestled in the mountains.
Shari does our graphic artwork for Riley Blake Designs and we are happy to have her as part of our design team.
