I love June…summer is just getting underway, market is over and we can move at a little slower pace.. no warp speed (ok I am a closet trekkie) until September. So now I have a little time to post pictures of our first Riley Blake Quilt retreat that was held last month.  We were thrilled to have Kellie Wulfsohn of “Don’t Look Now” spend a couple of extra days with us in Salt Lake City.  If you were at quilt market and saw her booth, you know why we wanted her to stay and teach her method of raw edge applique. Her work is breath taking.
And it is all done by machine. These pictures do not do her quilts justice.
Notice the pillow in the middle on the left on the girl bed. Â That is the pillow that we learned how to make called “Thinking of you”. Â Kellie only allowed 18 participates, so 18 lucky people received step by step instructions and came away with….this…
A few ladies left a bit early so you don’t get to see all 18 projects, but you get the idea of what we accomplished.
Syd, on the right with the camera, holds retreats at her home (www.alpinequiltretreats.com) and she is the perfect hostess. Â Yummy food, a great facility and look at her backyard’s view of the mountains.
Here is a shot of Kelli walking us through step by step…
And check out Jodi Taylor working away. Yes you use gloves to hold your fabric in place while you stitch on your fabric pieces.
We had a ball and miss our fun and witty Australian friend. The good news is that Kellie will be designing for Riley Blake and her first line will be released spring 2012. Watch for it because it is fantastic (yes it is almost finished!).
